Slavery: Legacy of Slavery. Ubiquitous, Apparently; but resistance to slave recovery differs.

By Dint:

Enslavement in Romania, 400 years, Gypsy roots
Populations brought in, sold, remain.  Resistance to slave recovery.  Continuing stigma because of attributes of skin and heritage, not individual merit.

Wintley Phipps, Baritone and Storyteller, on the Black American Slave. Also a narrative and performance, "Amazing Grace" (context of slavery)

Uncle Remus Tales, Translations
Find surprising assertiveness, resistance to being diminished by a formal status, unyielding backbone in presenting the characters of the Briar Patch community. Compare Disney's pap.

In process: checking our travel sites, see Europe Road Ways, Road Trips, for findings of slavery from Scotland and other enslavement of whites; how the legacy of 300 years of preventing an entire group from accumulating wealth from their own labor, from learning how to manage it, is reflected in our culture today.
