Linguistics as clue to cultural origins

By Dint:

Vlachs (found in Roman old Romania area) speaking Romani.
Language roots as clue to cultural origins.  Here, the Vlach people, Romania and elsewhere, nomadic herders.  It is not clear if the Vlachs speak Romani, a language of the Roma or gypsies, suggesting a connection with them;  or a vernacular form of old Latin. Rome settled here in its glory days, and joined with the indigenous Dacians.  Could old Latin have seeped into Vlach culture, consider this and Other Roma customs.
